Grinding depth and what you can do afterward
Standard grinding takes the stump 6–8 inches below grade, which is enough for sod, landscape rock or a garden bed. If you plan to replant a tree in the same hole or pour concrete, tell us up front — we go deeper and pull more of the root plate.
You choose what happens to the grindings: backfilled into the void so the spot settles level, or hauled off with clean topsoil brought in.
Access, utilities and tight gates
Before any grinder starts we locate irrigation lines, invisible fence wire, gas and electric services. Utility locates are free and we schedule them for you when the stump sits near a service line.
Our machine fits through a standard 36-inch gate, so backyard stumps rarely require fence panel removal.

How much does stump grinding cost?
Stump pricing depends on diameter at grade, root flare and machine access. Multiple stumps on the same visit are discounted because the machine is already on site.
How deep do you grind?
Six to eight inches below grade as standard. If you are replanting a tree in the same spot or pouring concrete, we grind deeper and remove more of the root plate.
Can I plant grass right away?
Yes. Once chips are removed or leveled and topsoil is added, you can seed or lay sod immediately. Grindings are high in carbon, so mixing in topsoil gives the best result.
Will you damage my sprinkler lines?
We locate and flag irrigation, invisible fence and utility lines before grinding, and hand-dig around anything close to the stump.
